Although only some roads connect Oakhurst to downtown Decatur, there are various major transit arteries located nearby. North of the neighborhood is East College Avenue, the main entry point from I-285 and Avondale Estates. Running parallel to East College Avenue is DeKalb Avenue, with the MARTA rail line running along the middle. The East Lake MARTA station is located in the northwest corner of the neighborhood. Ponce de Leon Avenue (via East Lake Drive) serves as the main entry point to Oakhurst from Atlanta.
