• Prior to becoming a garden suburb neighborhood, Oakhurst was developed as Atlanta’s first streetcar suburb, following the North Decatur trolley line built in 1892.

Running parallel to East College Avenue is DeKalb Avenue, with the MARTA rail line running along the middle. The East Lake MARTA station is located in the northwest corner of the neighborhood. Ponce de Leon Avenue (via East Lake Drive) serves as the main entry point to Oakhurst from Atlanta.
